one of my favourite words in the English language is 'praxis'. it has a certain feel in the mouth, and the challenge of speaking it points me towards the challenge of inhabiting it. another favourite these days is 'liminal.' mostly because it seems to be the space where things make sense ... for me at least ... to write is to:
live-work-practice-learn-do-be
i have no qualifications to share about my writing. i guess it will have to speak for Itself.
just me.
to answer some questions i have been asked over the years -
some of the stuff you can find here is really old, some is new. some has been performed, some is content to rest quietly on the page for your own mind's voice to speak. some is really quite good. some is really not. i can't always tell the difference. i will try to limit how much i share of the latter.
my childhood happened mostly in my imagination, and was located in the geography of New Jersey, New York, and the surrounding areas. i have inhabited a few geographies, most happily New York city, Baltimore, and now London. my education is mostly in theatre practice, which is weird to me, but it seems the only place that will love me as I am. attempts at academic activity were made in many places, with degrees resulting from Towson University (B.A.) and Goldsmiths College (M.A.).
i perform my work from time to time, mostly at the invitation of friends whose own work sustains me. the pleasure and pain of my practices in the healing arts and communicative sciences must surely inform my writing, though, at the moment, I'm not interested in saying how. i live a nomadic life, on a boat, with my man and our cat. this, too, must inform my language. for now, i choose not to exploit the sanctity of that community and that space for my language. we need it too much for other things.
if you would like to engage with me about what i offer here, please do. if you share my work, please share with me.
